Lüchow in the Hanoverian Wendland with its Rundling villages
“Half-timbered impressions” – this is probably the right description of the townscape of the historic old town of Lüchow (Wendland). If you walk through the town center, you will come across a rarely uniform and well-balanced architectural picture in the main street, at the central market place and also in the side streets. It is a simple and functional half-timbering, whose uniformity is no coincidence. Style elements of the early Biedermeier period refer to the time of construction and the preceding event: a fire in 1811 destroyed the entire town center and also the imposing castle, of which the office tower remained as a relic. A charming balance determined the reconstruction, civic pride was represented in the Ratskeller with its thoroughly impressive facade on the market square. In Lüchow’s immediate vicinity bginnt the Rundlingsgebiet, which is unique in Germany, whereby the villages as a special form with their uniform half-timbered farmhouses are grouped around a central village square.

Whether by car, motor home, motorcycle or bicycle – a visit to the half-timbered towns “From the Elbe to the Harz – The most beautiful in the north” offers a special experience at any time of the year.
