Halfway down the river you are invited to a coffee break on the sandy beach. Or watch a beaver family having “breakfast” at dusk with a bit of luck on a guided evening tour.
Golf
Approx. 24 km
The Golf-Club an der Göhrde was founded in 1968 as the first facility between Hamburg-Bremen-Hanover and Braunschweig. At first it was only a 9-hole course. Since 2000, there has been an 18-hole course that blends harmoniously into the natural terrain. Today, nature lovers will find healthy biotopes, rare butterflies, changing red deer and adorable squirrels, a place that nature conservationists would like to see.

Gardens and parks in the biosphere region Elbtalaue-Wendland
Approx. 6 km
At the beginning of summer in June and at the end of summer in September, private gardens in the Wendland region have been opening their doors for several years now to present their garden spaces to you. The basic idea of the Gartenträume events is of course to bring garden friends together to exchange experiences and ideas, to get advice or just to soak up pictures and to get to know people!
The Göhrde – a princely hunting ground
Approx. 30 km
The 20,000-hectare Göhrde Forest is the largest mixed forest in northern Germany. Already in the early 18th century, the region made a name for itself as a popular hunting ground for the nobility. In 1813, the Göhrde became the scene of the Göhrde Battle, which was part of the wars of liberation against the French occupation. Today, a granite obelisk not far from Oldendorf still commemorates this event. A special highlight in the Göhrde is the Field Lily Trail near Govelin.
ARTchers Lake – archery course
Approx. 71 km
The ARTchers Lake service course at Bernsteinsee near Stüde is open every weekend from 12 noon from Easter to the end of October. The Lake is suitable for both newcomers and experienced archers. Traditional archery takes place in the open air on abstract targets or animal dummies made of a special foam. Shooting is done without technical aids such as sights, because “aiming” is instinctive and is perfected through constant practice. Many of the total of about 60 targets of the ARTchers Land are lovingly self-built.
Balloon ride over the Wendland

Something special is a balloon ride in the Wendland. Leave everyday life behind and float at an altitude of about 300 m above the Elbtalaue in complete peace. Enjoy the boundless view over the large areas of untouched nature. Rundling villages and the Elbe valley can be seen from the balloon basket during a balloon launch from Lüchow. During a balloon launch from Dannenberg we also succeed in many a fascinating Elbe crossing with our balloon. It goes high up in the balloon basket and the wind drives us towards Wustrow. Salzwedel is easy to see and people have been able to watch many a balloon landing here.
